The record based file structure issue is really evident here.  I have the Linux kids (did I says kids, I meant folks) come to me several times a day to 'see' what's in the file that they FTP'd to the hp (they need to SEE the data because what they sent was incorrect).  I FCOPY their byte stream file into a file with records on the hp, and the ability to look at the records in the file is something that even the staunchest defenders of Linux at this site can only marvel at.  It's actually become a point of contention for me since I can spend an hour or two a day showing them their hosed data (but of course, it's billable).

No doubt about it, any/all OS's have good/better/best points about them, and I'm truly going to miss MPE!!
