This is a problem if you intend to access the database from different
platforms. The different byte order is the problem then. Another
problem
could be if you rely on ordering (sort item or index) but do no tell
the database the correct item type.
HP Eloquence has a binary item type (type B) to make this explicit
(DBINFO could still return the original item type for a ported
program if necessary).
