This reply could be considered a <plug>, but I think it is worth
stating.
A few years ago we wrote a spooler for MPE that will enable full blown
page level recovery in a mixed host/protocol environment eg
Novell/Unix/NT/HP3000/PCdirect.
It will even track electronic forms in the printer so that even if a PC
or NT
blows away the electronic form, our spooler makes sure that it is always
there.
