Gentle HP 3000 listers,

On my network I have an HP 3000, an HP 9000, a Windows NT server and several
Windows 95 PCs. I am using DHCP to assign IP addresses dynamicaly. Since
the HP 3000 and HP 9000 do not support DHCP, I thought I would reserve
addresses for them in DHCP. I also use WINS to resolve IP addresses/names,
another reason to use DHCP. This way I can get rid of HOSTS files.

In DHCP, it asks for the MAC address corresponding to the IP address of the
target node. I looked in NMMGR on the 3000 and found that the address was
set to ff.ff.ff.ff.ff.ff.ff.ff This is obviously a default address, but when
I fed it to DHCP, the latter did not find it on the network and rejected it.
This was a little surprising, but not much.

My question is a multiple one.

1- If I change the MAC address in NMMGR to another number, will this solve my
problem?
2- If 1 above is yes, how do I do this on the HP 9000 (ooops, wrong list :->)
?
3- If 1 above is no, how would I go about resolving this issue on the 3000,
the 9000 still remains a problem.

Kind regards,

Denys. . .
