From "HP SYSTEM/3000 System Description", part number 5952-4431(22),
printed 11/71:
"HP's Multiprogramming Executive (MPE) ..."
The same capitalization appears in "SYSTEM/3000 SOFTWARE GENERAL
INFORMATION", part # 03000-90001, also printed 11/71. The first mention of
the HP3000 is in (of the documents in my possession) "HP 3000 Computer
System summary description", also part number 5952-4431(22), but printed
2/73. In all examples I can find in these early documents, it is:
Multiprogramming Executive.
I can't check the "(ahem) authority" as my copy is in the office,
but I think I'd settle for the accuracy of the documents I do have. :-)
