I have found that a lot of times managers do not put a password on the SM enabled, TELESUP Acct. or it something easy for HP like PASS or HPRC. I have gotten my way into a lot of machines that way. You may want to log on as MGR.TELESUP or HPRC.TELESUP, then you can do a LISTUSER to find out passwords. Hope this helps.

Hi,
This weekend I picked up an HP 3000 947, with three 2345a serial
multiplexors, a 7980 and 7978 tape drive, and some other neat stuff.
the 3000 has 97 megs of ram, a DAT drive and around 4 gigs of hard
disk space ( I got all of this stuff for 50 bucks!) Anyways, I managed
to hook a serial terminal up to it, but of course I don't know what
the password for operator.sys is. Is there any way to bring this up in
single user or something like that so I can log on to the system? I
don't know what version of MPE/ix it's running, but it appears to be
from around 1991. Thanks in advance
Chris.
