In the light of recent developments at HP we are again
revisiting an old topic regarding possible migration paths. I
would like to find out if there exists a database management
system that runs on Linux, has a visual design tool somewhat
like MS-SQL7/2000, and is available as open-source.

If any of the polymaths here can provide suggestions or advice
on this matter I would be extremely grateful. We are
tentatively considering a move to Java / someRDBMS running
on Linux. Management desires a zero capital solution, i.e.
tools that are freely available.

Regards,
Jim
