John,
Could be that it's just going bad, however I would be interested to know
whether or not the device is configured properly and whether or not you are
using the"maxtapebuf" option. Below is a portion of the store command help.
MAXTAPEBUF Directs STORE to use the maximum available buffer
size during the store operation. Currently, the
maximum tape buffer sizes for the following tape
drives are (in Kilobytes):
7974 16 7978B 32 DDS 32
7976 16 7979 32 MO 32
7978A 16 7980 32 3480 32

Hi,
Any idea what is actually happening when the MPE i/X STORE command issues
the above message on the SYSLIST and then the store does not progress?
A SHOWDEV <drive> shows the drive to be online and write enabled, as in:
LDEV AVAIL OWNERSHIP VOLID DEN ASSOCIATION
7 AVAIL (W) (Nolabel) 1600
My guess is the tape is bad, but thought I'd ask here if there is any oth
er
more experienced analysis available. TIA.
Sincerely,
James Dunlap
