One of my HP9000 DDS drives died today (destroyed a tape even!).  This was
an ancient 60m non-compressing full height DDS-1 drive.

My HP CE came out and did a free upgrade to a half-height 90m compressing
DDS-1 C1536A drive.  The CE told me that the reasons for the upgrade are
better reliability and that HP doesn't really want to be stocking those most
ancient drives any more.

The official flyer (C1534-90918) that came with the new drive also mentions
MPE, so if you have any of these ancient drives at your site, you might want
to talk to your CE.
