We send a file from our East Coast HP 3000 to a West Coast NT ftp
server. Our job stream shows that the file was sent, starting at 9:36 AM
and ending at 10:10 AM. But a dir of the same file within ftp shows a
time of 14:03, a four hour difference, ignoring the seven minutes
difference between the server's clocks. And yes, it is the same file.
LISTFILE, -3 shows
CREATED : WED, JUL 1, 1998, 9:12 AM
MODIFIED: WED, JUL 1, 1998, 9:36 AM
ACCESSED: WED, JUL 1, 1998, 10:10 AM
and ls -ltr shows Jul 1 09:36. At the time of the send, TZ was not set
on the 3000, but is now, with no effect on the time seen. But the
difference in timezone is three hours, not four. Anyone have any
experience with such behavior, or the interaction between these client
and host ftps, that might explain this annoying discrepancy? Once too
often, someone has noticed this, and thought that there was a problem.
