It has been a while, but I believe you use the SKIPEOF function of FCOPY.  As I recall an IBM labeled tape has the label as a file.  We used to skip the label and read the data.

Last time I did this was on a MAG tape so it has been a while.

We have an IBM 3490E tape drive from which we extract information on tape.  Right now we have to submit a batch job for each volume we read.  I would like to know if anyone has to code SPL or otherwise or some indication on how to read multiple volumes.
