VT'ing into the 3000 doesn't require any additional hardware or software
(all comes with FOS). VT is a *network* protocol though, so it requires your
network. (if your lan is dead for some reason, no vt access to the 3000...
don't confuse a 'file server' with a 'lan' though...a file server being
up or down has no bearing on vt access to the 3000 - unless you're pcs are
running their emulators off the fileserver.)
 
On the pc side, you'll need a terminal emulator package that supports HP's
VT protocol (WRQ's R1, Minisoft's MS92, HP's Advancelink, or Unison/Tymlabs'
Business Session); each PC will also need a lan card, and a tcp/ip "stack"
(comes with some emulators - optional with others).

R1 will run on other TCP/IP stacks, though to do VT you also need to buy
their "3000 connection" package (additional $$$).
