Gentle Listers,

Elbert at Boeing informs me of the following problems with the new HICOMP web
page:

>Your HICOMP sign on the Web seems to be about 2,000 pixels wide --
>based on the NCSA Mosaic SW we use here at Boeing.
>I have screen res of 800*600 an dI have to horiz scroll 1-1/2 times to
>see it all.

I was informed of the same thing over the weekend by a Compu$lurp user. I
use Netscape 1.22 and 2.0 and Mickeysoft Internet Explorer 2.0. It looks as
it should on these two browers. I do not have or use Mosaic.

When I created the page, I specified WIDTH=600 HEIGHT=460 for all the
graphics so that it would fit precisely on the page. The GIF files are
originaly 640x480 as captured by Paint Shop Pro 3.0. My thoughts are that
Mosaic is not conforming to HTML 2.0 standard.

I talked with the support folks at my ISP and they inform me that this is
correct. Mosaic is an outdated browser and one should look for a either a
newer version wich reads HTML 2.0 and 3.0 (if such a beast exists) or switch
to something which works :-).

Is there anyone out there who could suggest something I could do for the poor
Mosaic souls. (Oh, oh. I may be starting something here. Maybe Netscape
and MS IE are on someone's veto list for some obscure reason. Or maybe
someone uses only Mosaic, thinks Netscape is a crock and that anyone caught
using Netscape or IE is anti-HP3000 :->)

Kind regards,

Denys. . .

P.S. BTW Brian and Stan will be happy to know that I have discontinnued the
use of Delrina WinFax Pro 4.0 on my Win-95-based PC. I was encountering some
strange errors when it was running (waiting for faxes). I stopped it for a
few days, and everything has been working just peachy.
