This doesn't really help with your problem but along the lines of Chuck's
reply on the indestructibility of certain HP products:

Back when I was working in Flin Flon Manitoba, and the only portable
computer was an Osbourne the size of a suitcase, we had a need to put a
terminal into a particularly hostile environment where Zinc was being
extracted from ore using sulphuric acid leaching and electroplating. One of
the environmental challenges of the zinc tankhouse was an omnipresent
sulphuric acid mist.

All of the equipment (including the fans that were supposed to be providing
ventilation), was subject to rapid corrosion and frequent breakdown. We
didn't really expect HP to come up with a solution but they provided a small
sealed terminal, about the size of a notebook, with a plastic cover for the
keyboard.

It didn't break down during the time I worked there. The only maintenance
required was that the tankhouse workers would hose it down at the end of
each shift.

| To All,
|
| Jay Willis asked for an indestructible notebook. I do not believe that a
| 'Mighty Mouse'
| thrown off a building qualifies as notebook, but George Stachnik will
| definetly swear to
| it's indestrutibility! :-)
