I use C# for programmers' second edition by Harvey Deitel and Paul
Deitel. I am doing a lot of heavy C# and have almost everything I need.
It is a good learn and reference guide. I generally by the dictionary
type books.

Before you buy the book...

http://www.csharp-station.com/Tutorials/Lesson02.aspx is a good
reference for basic stuff.

I am now using a lot of Microsoft and other on line books for BizTalk,
SQL, SharePoint and C#. They told me not to buy the books, try to get
the information on-line.

I work with some MS consultants and they want as much as you can get in
a stored procedure or stored function. Sometimes I look at my stored
procedures and they remind me of a COBOL program.

Good Luck
Kent

Subject: [HP3000-L] OT: Any suggestions on a learning C# book?

Hi all,

I bought the Microsoft "Visual C# 2005: The Language", and I
think it's a POS as far as a tool for learning C#...it's really more of
a reference, or a book for folks who already know JAVA (or C++) to learn
C#.

            I also have "Visual C# 2005 Demystified", but it's a tad too
rudimentary (it delves into what a loop is and/or what an IF is).

Before I spend anymore of my hard earned pay, I like to get
something that some other old COBOL hack has used to learn C#?

TIA, and have a great week!

Life is not a journey to the grave with the
intention of arriving safely in a pretty and
well preserved body, but rather to skid in
broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out,
and loudly proclaiming:

-- WOW!!! What a Ride!!!
