yup (again :-)

(...and don't point fingers at stan...he's only the porter) whois 'assumes'
that nroff (what is 'nroff' anyhow?) is installed on your system.  for 3000
folks, this means you've installed at least gnugroff.  i suspect that you also
need gnucore as well (any idea mark k.?).  don't let this gnu requirement put
you off.  you can always run whois (the binary).  having help is nice but not
functionally necessary.  otoh, (thanks to mark's hard work...) the gnu packages
install quickly and smoothly and give a great number of 'shell'
toys...err...programs :-)

can't help you on this on.  i suspect that 'help' is unique to mpe's
