Yup, recently configured one for a D-class server here.
It is a tiny little box about the size of a VCR cassette,
with one serial connector (towards the serial access port
of your system) and and twisted pair (RJ45) connector for
the LAN access.

Although I haven't tried myself, it should work fine on the 3000 as well.
It runs a builtin webserver with a little java application. It allows
to be configured for up to 4 users to connect to it and share the console
(I haven't tried this simultaneous access yet).
The configuration of the network parameters is a bit tricky, best done
on a PC with a crossover LAN cable. The font is very small, but you can
'float' the window to the 'outside' of the browser, which increases the
display to a bearable format. The newest firmware (haven't downloaded
it yet) is capable of DHCP. It is not too fast (feels like a 4800 baud
modem ?)
It is great for use in a team that is geopgraphically diverted, and
it saves a lot of desk space, too.
Reportedly it has a problem with SAM and SWINSTAL on HPUX 11, but I
assume the next firmware update will sort that out.
that's as much as I remember at this late hour,
Goetz.
