Hello Tracy,

We had a problem with our scheduler picking up messages from jobs (that had
been aborted by the operations staff) and interpreting those as abnorms.
This was implemented before I got here but was used to get rid of the
"informational" message altogether. Embarrassingly, I haven't completely
figured out what it is doing, but it seems simple enough. At the beginning
of our job we put a few lines...

!comment build a msg file to wait on
!purge sos1msg
!build sos1msg;rec=-255,,v,ascii;msg
!file x=sos1msg,old;shr;gmulti

We then put the meat of our job in here and at the end of our job we put a
few lines...

!run mpex.pub.vesoft
run sos.pub.lps;goon < sosmonn
fcopy from=*x;to=
exit

Now if we abort the job it goes away and doesn't give back any nasty
messages. Included here are all the usual disclaimers, including the one
that says you might have to tweak with this one a bit to get it to work.
