We're currently in the midst of our Y2K conversion project. The
identification process was completed some time ago, and we've begun coding
and testing the data, program and job conversions. Due to the size of most
of our databases and the inability to be down for more than an occasional
weekend, we're rolling out the changes in a phased conversion -- i.e., the
databases will be converted a few at a time, and the converted code will
use system variables which define the state of each database
(converted/unconverted) for decisions re: processing paths and use of data
structure definitions.

We're using Adager (Adager Corp), SUPRTOOL (Robelle Consulting, Ltd) and
DOC3000/DDAY2000 (Diamond Optimum Systems) as our primary toolset for
identification, conversion and testing database changes. We've also rented
a 979KS-100 system on which to perform our conversions and do testing by
rolling the system clock forward and backward as necessary. Software tools
which allow processes to set and use 'virtual' clocks were released after
we brought that system in. These tools permit a process to view the system
date and time differently from the actual date and time, which implies that
other processes may use the actual clock if necessary. This purportedly
permits Y2K testing to proceed without impact to other production and/or
development on the same box. One of these tools is called "Time Machine"
(SolutionSoft Systems) and the other is available from Allegro Consulting
(I'm sorry .. the product name escapes me for the moment). Both have www
sites from which you may obtain more information.

We have no Allbase applications, so no Image-to-Allbase conversions are
planned.

Good luck with your project.

Subject: Y2K conversions

Hi all,
 I'm new to the list.

Is anyone doing Y2K conversions to TurboImage/COBOL systems on the
HP3000?
What approach are you taking and are you using any third party software
packages to help with your conversions?

Has anyone done a conversion from TurboImage to Allbase? What kind of
problems did you run into?

 Thanks!

Jeanne
