David,
Try using WRQ's Reflection.
The standard port for the hp's proprietary protocol is 1537.
You can download an evaluation copy at WRQ.COM.

Subject: [HP3000-L] Logging into HP3000 MPE system
We have an old HP3000 running MPE and I need to log into it from the
network
(our LAN). I believe it has a telnet like daemon running on it, but it
is
"special" as I recall from years back.
In running nmap on the ports of the server the following show up:
Interesting ports on hp3000.kla-tencor.com (10.33.8.13):
(The 1520 ports scanned but not shown below are in state: closed)
Port State Service
1537/tcp open sdsc-lm
1542/tcp open gridgen-elmd
2564/tcp open hp-3000-telnet
Nmap run completed -- 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 3 seconds
Does anyone have a client program compatible with this HP-3000-telnet.
I
tried connecting to the 2564 port, but no login, etc.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
David Smith
