My current backup/restore strategy is to use two DLT 8000 tape drives and
start two complete and separate online backups (one at midnight and the
other when the first one completes) each day. I am using TurboStore Online
7x24 and options including COMPRESS=low (we let the DLT 8000 do the high
level of compression), INTER and MAXTAPEBUF to maximize tape usage and
increase speed.

One of our systems has started requiring a second reel on a regular basis.
I hate the complexity that multi-reel backups will do to our environment.
Can someone bring me up; to date on the alternatives for simplifying our
backup/restore environment while minimizing the investment?

We are running on 989/650's and MPE/iX 6.5.
