We are on version 5.5 of MPE, and version  31N20512 of MPEX.  
 
The user does have PM, why would that cause an error?

Better still, what version of mpeX are you on?  I suspect this is actually a VESOFT problem, not an HP/MPE problem.  (snipped from the original is the fact this was from within MPEX...)
