You can get a fully functional freeware FTP server, called war-ftpd at
http://www.the-core.net/mirror/jgaa/files/ward165.exe. There are several
mirror sites, but this is one location where the ftp server is available.
I've been using it for a year or two, and I think it's great. Seems to be
pretty secure also - supports groups and users, and has several security
options. We've got a job that runs from one of our HP3K's and ftp's to a
PC to send a file for processing on the PC. The server will run on '95, NT
3.51 (x86) and NT 4.0 (x86). There's a page on the features, security,
etc. at http://www.jgaa.hexagon.net/tfptd.html.

You would have to be running an ftp server on your PC, or on a server
whose files you have can directly access (we ftp to our NT server from
our 3K). I cannot help you with a Win95 ftp server, except to say that
WRQ includes one with Reflection, and there is a lot of shareware or
freeware out there. I am taking at face value that getting the file with
the MS ftp client will not meet your need. The ftp server will have its
own requirements for how you can connect to it via the MPE ftp client.
If I have understood you, and you have less general questions, feel free
to reply off list.
