I have an hp e3000 in Melbourne Australia. This system has sendmail
installed and we use this for sending internal mail with no problem. We are
now trying to send some e-mail externally. Then only corporation external
relay is in Dallas, TX. So I changed the DS configuration line in the
/etc/sendmail.cf file to be
# "Smart" relay host (may be null)
DSdalex1.flowserve.com
Stopped both the syslog daemon and the sendmail daemon and started them
back.
Yet when the e-mail is send via a job the resulting /tmp/syslog.log record
entries indicate the there was a problem.
The syslog entries are
Apr 1 09:39:24 localhost sendmail[24117319]: IAA29950056:
[log in to unmask], delay=4+00:13:45, xdelay=00:00:04,
mailer=esmtp, relay=mx2.clear.net.nz. [203.97.37.11], stat=Deferred: 451
<[log in to unmask]>... Sender domain (melap1.flowserve.com)
not found in DNS, or not compliant with section 6 of RFC822
Apr 1 09:39:26 localhost sendmail[24117319]: IAA27918455:
[log in to unmask], delay=4+00:19:16, xdelay=00:00:02,
mailer=esmtp, relay=mx2.clear.net.nz., stat=Deferred: 451
<[log in to unmask]>... Sender domain (melap1.flowserve.com)
not found in DNS, or not compliant with section 6 of RFC822
This seems to indicate that the system is trying a different relay and that
the other replay can not see the server since it is behind a firewall.
Can anyone suggest a change in configuration for this case?
