Donna is 110% right on this one. If I could just get Verisign/Network
Solutions to let go of one of our domain names, I could (and will soon) put
our web site up on the HP3000. Not only that, but I could (and will very
soon) run our mail server on the HP3000. Now the email part will cost some
money, but the only investment I have in the web site is the time it took me
to download, install, configure, and work the bugs (not really bugs, but my
lack of understanding) out of Apache and Perl. Well, I guess you have to
add in the cost of those Apache and Perl books I'm going to buy. And as
soon as our web site is up and running in its current, brochure-ware, mode;
we are going to start really making it sing by offering our customers (via
the web) live data about their orders and any excess inventory we may have
that we want to sell quickly, plus whatever else I or sales & marketing can
dream up.

There are at least two reasons I can give you quickly for us doing this:

#1 - Because we can

#2 - Because I don't trust any other DBMS out there to be able to handle all
of our data and keep it safe from predators of all sorts. The legendary
stability and robustness of the Image/Turbo Image/Image SQL data base backed
by the legendary stability and robustness of the MPE O/S lets me sleep at
night knowing that our data (the life blood of our (or anybody's) business)
is safe and secure.
