With Wirt to advise, you can dispense with the sysadmin as well ;-).

I think that John's given a good "typical" answer.  Understand, though, that
3000 shops vary widely.  Wirt tells me of shops with no IS staff at all.  We,
on the other hand, have 5 programmers, one of whom (guess who) is the sysadmin,
2 student programmers, an operator and 3 student operators and, considering
what all we do, I'd not want to reduce our staff.

It depends a lot on how much your 3000 is used and for what.
