FWIW, Microsoft is making a lot of noise about their results on the TPC-C
benchmarks.
http://www.microsoft.com/sql/productinfo/worldrecord.htm.

Whether one cares one wit what Microsoft chooses to do to sell its products
or not, Bill Gates bragged about this at the Windows 2000 rollout, and MS is
continuing to use their results, for marketing, of course. And whatever one
thinks of what HP should do about bringing TPC-C benchmarks to the 3000, or
even if they should do it (what do you think, by the way?), this is what the
competition is doing.

Comments welcome.
