Maybe eventually, but personally I'd like to give the new list a chance to
develop a bit before we invite the rest of the world to join.

Probably not at the moment since there's nowhere appropriate to gateway it
to. Perhaps those who provide alternate access to 3000-L (Bruce's threaded
archive, etc.) will be willing to do the same for 9000-L.

If someone really wants a newsgroup feed then they could setup a gateway to
a private news server and people could point to that server for reading the
list in "news" format. Someone has to want this badly enough to go through
the hassle of setting it up and maintaining it though.

And people who get tired of our 9000-L list can always move there if our
likely higher OT content drives them nuts. I hope that our list will
provide a more tutorial and relaxed environment and thus won't simply
duplicate what the other forums provide, but we'll have to see how things
work out.

Oh, and I would hope that we can keep the number of postings that get sent
to *both* 3000-L and 9000-L down to a bare minimum (like if you have the
urge to post some "Friday humor", please pick one list or the other and not
both!). I'm posting this on 3000-L since that's where the original question
came up and I suspect we don't have any 9000-L subscriber yet who don't read
3000-L, but I think this message is now rather off-topic for 3000-L.
