Gentle HP 3000 List Members,

I finally realized that the session times are at the half-hour, so
therefore I am now amending my prior post. I am writing this on the way to
Hamburg, via Paris. As is fitting, I am in seat 3K. So:

Here is the list of prospective attendees as at 18 July 1998. BTW, I have
reserved space for 80.

They are listed in chronological order of their responses.

It is now too late to reserve a spot so if you are not on the list, you can
show up on stand-by status.

The HP3000-L lunch reunion (3rd Annual) will be held on the Wednesday of
the HP World conference. It will be in the regular conference lunch area,
where we will have tables (8) reserved for us. Last year, 47 people
responded to the invitation ahead of time and then close to 60 showed up.
Or was it the other way round. Either way, the seating is limited.

If your name is on the list, please be on time at 12:30 on that day. At
12:37 if you are not there, your seat will be available for someone on
"stand-by" status. Please check with me when you arrive so that I may try
to keep track of who sits where, because once again, there will be photos.
And if I have to take them myself and then scan them in and post them at
Hicomp's web page, I want to make sure we have names for everyone (unlike
last year when someone was mistaken for Winston K.)

If you have reserved and do not show up, your name will be broadcast on the
list as someone who is undependable and not to be taken seriously. Unless
you have a good excuse, something like:
"I forgot"
"I got lost"
"I sat with some other group"
"I had a better offer"
"I did not go to HP World"
"HP3000-L lunch, what's a lunch"
or that perennial favorite "I changed my mind, so there" or anything else
you can think of.

The default excuse "I was too shy to show my face and besides, we are
moving to UNIX" will be forever appended to your name until I can think of
a better excuse.

If your excuse is "I visited the vendor show instead", this will
automatically enroll you for the next 10 years at the HP3000-L lunch. To
use this excuse, simply get 51 different vendors to sign a card between the
hours of 12:00PM and 12:15PM on that Wednesday and get each signature and
time duly notarized.

Here is the final list, please scrutinize it. I am off to Europe tomorrow
for the week. I look forward to seeing all of you and many more people in
2 weeks. Good day.
