Gavin indignantly informs me:

Believe it or not, I can dig myself out of this hole pretty easily:
The "semi-civilized" part was *only* attached to the Motel 6...
.... one of the reasons I went for *this* Motel 6 is that I know
the area pretty well; from having been down to HP and the old
Interex office many times; and indeed recall it as being at
least a better grade of standard Silicon Valley commercial
suburbia..... not that I would trade my Methow riverfront for
the Mathilda Avenue ambiance you understand, but still... ;-)

About a week ago I talked to the HoJo's on Stevens Creek
BLVD; at which time they quoted me $95 per night. Since it
just squeaked by my "under $100" rule, I was going to take it..
but by the time I called back a few days later, new quote was
$119.... If I was going to take a pure WAG at what Motel 6 will
raise their rates to come January, I would guess $75-$80.... still a
bargain....
