The issues with the 3000 are not the reliability. They are the applications
as sales ate the corporate level. When v.p. of companies start thinking of
applications and those sales people say, "lets put this on a HP3000" then
the sales will come. Applications drive sales.

We have an excellent server. even my Unix system admin says that in his
previous job the 3000 was rock solid. The issue is ERP applications.

This reminds me of a recent event. I went to upgrade a
client's
site from 5.0 to 5.5 and the client mentioned that he had
only been
there since January and this was his first experienced with
MPE.
While I was doing the upgrade and shutting down and bringing
it
back up he was watching me very closely. It was then that
he
mentioned that he *never* brought an MPE system down before
(except during a training class at HP).

Seven months (most likely longer) without ever crashing or
being
brought down. Even I was impressed!

I know that I am preaching to the pulpit, but if word of
this got out
                to managers of other systems!!!!
