One might even ask - Turbostore, Who needs it. When I started this job, I
looked at my maintenance contracts with HP and saw the absurd amount that
was being paid for Turbostore support. At the time, I had a 2GB DAT running
on a 918 - no hardware compression and was using the compress option of
Turbostore. For the price of just over 1 year of support, I upgraded the
DAT to a DDS2 drive. I started using plain vanilla store and was pleasantly
surprised that because I was no longer CPU constrained doing compression
that my backups were now taking almost 1/2 as long. Unless you really need
some of the advanced functionality of Turbostore(such as online) your
dollars would be better spent on a faster DAT drive - DDS3 drives are even
faster than DDS2.
