I remember where I was when the 3000 was killed ... but it was a year or so earlier (May 2003?),
at the public announcement of the HP 3000 A-Class.  I stood up in the Oak Room at HP Cupertino
and told Dave Snow that he'd just killed the HP 3000 (because it was software crippled
to about 1/3 the speed of the *same hardware* A-Class 9000, and cost five times as much).

Turns out I was right, so take that, Dave: nyah nyah nyah.
