Sorry Leonard I didn't mean to offend.  It was merely
a historical utterance.

Putting to death an astrologer, was part of the law.  I 
don't see how you take offense in that.

The reference to a corrupt priesthood, (where I can
understand what you mean) was from one of the prophets.  
It was prior to the destruction of the Kingdom of Judah 
and widely considered one of God's judgments by Bible 
commentators, (and I'm sure even by Rabbinic scholars.)

That the Jews bounced back and reestablished themselves 
from this disaster, is another story.  But there was no 
intent to offend because of that.
