We had a similar problem in that many blank pages were being printed due to
terminal sequences being output to a stdlist file. Since we needed to read
the job output for error checking, I decided to strip away the ESC. Wrote a
little Pascal program which would read the spoolfile and strip away the ESC
and the accompaning characters which go with it. I have not dealt with
printer codes, but I believe they are similar to terminal ESC sequences in
that they start with ESC and most often end with a Capital letter. There
were some exceptions with the terminal sequences and were basically hard
coded to look for those exceptions.
Start writing the program and as you see codes coming through add the logic
to catch it. And there you are.
