As a matter of policy, I won't even recommend anything but the 28685B
transceiver to a client for a 3000 system. It's a cheap part in a critical
role. Not good to have critical systems down and out due to tiny little
problems.

On another subject... what's the other end of the LAN cable plugged into? A
hub/switch/network gizmo ? And is it in Calif. and does it have a UPS to
supply it juice and so forth...?
