When a job is submitted a variable HPLASTJOB is set to the job number.
Just retrieve this value and don't bother to write the stdlist to a file.
The user will see what they need and you have what you are looking for.

Re: [HP3000-L] VPLUS (VTURNOFF/VTURNON) Question

Thanks to all who replied to my posting and gave me *invaluable*
assistance.
Thank you. However, a slight problem exists, let me explain:

This app allows the user to stream jobs -- works great (excluding Vesoft's
STREAMX). When the job is streamed I capture the job number which is
shown at the top of the screen. Example:

The following has been submitted #J1234

Great! However, the way I capture the job number is to run the program to
a stdlist file (RUN pgm.group.acct;stdlist=STDFILE

When the job is streamed I open and read the stdlist file to retrieve the
job number.

Now I have introduced the concept of VTURNOFF/VTURNON to allow the user
to answer STREAMX prompts if they exist. Well, the user isn't seeing the
prompts because they are being written to the stdlist file!

So then I tried running the program without the stdlist=STDFILE.
Now I get the STREAMX prompts just fine but I am no longer getting the job
number on the screen where I expected/wanted/needed it to be. Ho hum.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I may solve this problem.

BTDT, anyone ??

TIA,
Brian.
