I sent this to Craig off-list but thought I'd post it for all to see:

The only difference I see in a 979 and 989 is the Mhz and the cache
sizes. 979 runs at 180Mhz
989 at 200 and 989/x50 at 240Mhz.

979 has 1k data and 1k instruction cache while 989 and 989/x50 has 2k
data & 2k instruction. 

Bus speeds seem to be the same: 32mb/sec HP-PB into 100mb/sec HP-HSC
into 768mb/sec Processor Memory Bus
