If the replacement is with the same size disk, it's possible to
"clone" the current disk, halt the machine, swap the drives,
and reboot ... voila! no reload needed.

Teach me, please! How do you "clone" a drive, especially before halting the
machine? Do you mean "take the system down, bring it up in single-user mode,
then..."? Even if this is the case, do you use something like SADUTIL?
There's SO much to learn....
