Jim,
If you SET CIUPDATE = ALLOWED then you must also have a programmatic call to
DBCONTROL mode 5. This is for computability reasons.
If you SET CIUPDATE = ON then the call to DBCONTROL is not required.

Subject: CIUPDATE

Okay, I have a data base that has CIUPDATE allowed according to
DBUTIL. But when I try to DBUPDATE when changing a search item
in a detail data set, I still get error 41 "DBUPDATE attempted to
modify the value of a critical item--key, search or sort".

Is there something else/more/special I need to do to make this
work? A special mode perhaps?

Thanks.
