To the list,
Here's an update. The HP CE replaced the failed drive in our XP RAID-5 raid
set and after that raid set had rebuilt for 25% the HP3000 system woke up
and now is running. All the processes appeared to wait for 8 hours until
the disk was ready.
We're not sure what caused the outage or what brought it back to life. I'm
now trying to review the log files on our system to see if it points to
anything.

Craig,
I don't have a Visio diagram but our HP3000 environment is pretty straight
forward.
LDEV 100-119 - fiber card - fiber cable - XP port
LDEV 200-219 - fiber card - fiber cable - XP port
No fiber switches, no bridges, just direct connectivity between the XP and
the HP3000.

David,
I would be more concerned about what the XP is saying than the HP.
The HP sees one LUN (in a series of LUNs) that is busy.
What is the connectivity? Are you using those A5814A routers, have you
tried
rebooting the router? What about the Brocade switch?
Do you have a visio diagram or map of your environment?
