As expected, today the US DoJ submitted a proposal to break
Microsoft into two companies (Windows vs. applications, though
I don't think it's that simple).

Not expected, though, was the "friends of the court" brief
filed by a group of economists.  This document suggests
breaking MS into *four* pieces.

It's unfortunate in any case.  I used to be a Microsoft fan
(believe it or not), though never for Windows.  Had they
retained their dominance through marketing, this whole matter
likely would never have come up.  But telling companies like HP
what could or could not appear on their desktop went a bit far.
