The problem is not updating the database remotely or generating the
reports.  All that I have completed on the HP3000 and it all runs
fine, in the ideal case.  What I am doing now is hardening the Linux
side script against accident overwrites of unprocessed data in the
event the HP3000 job either fails to run or complete properly.

The likely candidate in this case is a network failure or some
problem with the HP3000.  Since the entire process is event driven
off of the EDI system which runs on the Linux side that is where I
need to check the HP3000 for a clean transfer.
