If you wish to look at another approach to date intrinsics, take a
look at the Robelle SmartDate library at:

     http://www.robelle.com/products/smartdate/

These have been tested from a variety of programming languages
including COBOL (CM and NM), FORTRAN, and SPL.  I'm pretty certain
that we have some customers using the routines from Business Basic
(I'm not certain about Transact, but I don't see any intrinsic
problems with calling SmartDate from Transact).
