Call me naive, but I actually see this as a positive development for
both Open Skies and the HP e3000. Being purchased by a known Airline
industry player with a plan to develop and integrate the product into
a compressive e-services solution for Airlines sounds like a very good
thing. They will add to the external, customer voices telling HP to
support and evolve the best business operating system and transaction
database available (MPE/iX with Image/SQL) and they will add validation
for the Open Skies product to Airlines skeptical about HP as a service
provider.
