Well, If you do not have any of the tools listed below, and you are sure that
the "priv" files you are going
to purge are not needed, you can perform a null store and purge the files.

:file t=$null
:store file_set;*t;purge

You store to nothing and purge at the same time. I have not done this in a long
time, but i'm sure that it still works.
Maybe you want to store and purge them.
:file t;dev=tape
:store file_set;*t;purge
This will also work as long as you have SM capability.

Good luck

Steve,

If you have MPEX in place, use MPEX PURGE as SM.

If not use DBUTIL, PURGE (which will work for the DB creator):

>>PURGE

Purges the root file and all the data sets of the referenced database.
If you use third-party indexing, the >>PURGE command also purges any
existing index files regardless of indexing being enabled or disabled.

Purging removes the files from the catalog and returns the disk space to
the system. As with >>ERASE, you must be the database creator or must
provide the maintenance word to use DBUTIL with the >>PURGE entry.
Before running the DBRESTOR program to restore a database, use this
utility function to purge the database.

If DBUTIL successfully purges the database, it prints a confirmation
message on the list file device.

Syntax

     >>P[URGE] database name [/maint word] [DETACH]

For example:

     PURGE ORDERS/SELL

where ORDERS is the database name and SELL is the maint word.

Subject: PRIV File

I am trying to purge some old files, but cannot due to these files being
PRIV. I log on as Manager.Sys(with all capabilities) and still nothing. I
am sure this is just a Monday Morning brain freeze, but if anyone knows how
to purge these PRIV files, please let me know(I have tried releasing, but
also nothing.)
