We still manage about 500,000 lines of SPL code.  This code is used to
produce our MPE/V, MPE/iX, and HP-UX versions of our products.  We
couldn't have done it without the excellent help of SPLash!

How we manage to use SPLash! to produce HP-UX versions of our products

As I recall, Bob Green wrote most of the SPL textbook.  I've asked
him to respond to your question about the example in the textbook
(assuming that he can remember).
