Do you do any disk cleanup at all.... Do a discfree for every volume.
In the first three groupings 9,99,999...If there is significant disk space
it is wasted. Cleanup any wasted space first by purging any old "not needed"
files.

Then

Perform a recovery of sorts on the disk space by going into
volutil and running CONTIGVOL volumenumber
for every disk drive. Then do it again for every drive.

Subject: [HP3000-L] Help with VA7100

Hello. We have two hp3000's hooked to a VA7100. We are experiencing very
poor session and batch performance, that has gotten progressively worse over
the last 60 days. We upgraded to the VA last June. One of the things that
concerns us is that running a job on one box can effect performance on the
other box, yet we have been told that the VA can't be the issue, but it is
the common element between the two. Our environment is such that we purge
and create a lot of data every day, lots of disc i/o. Our application was
written that way from day one, and we are in the process of migrating off
the HP3K, so the application is not going to be changed much at all. Just
curious if any one else has a VA7100 with HP3K hooked to it (989 and 969, so
no PCI bus). We are a batch environment too, nothing is online. Create a
batch file, run a job, for about 250 clients, a couple of times a day. I
know there is probably not a short answer to this, but thought I'd join the
list and ask around. We have had a few consultants looking at the boxes, so
it's not like we have not been trying to resolve the issue. Just have not
had much luck to isolate "what the problem is" so we can figure out what our
options are. Once we do that, we can prioritize what things we can at least
try to solve.

Thanks in advance for any help that can be rendered.

Mike Baker
