We have been using IEM's 8mm drives for approximately 3 years now. It
seems that we are sending these drives in for repair once or twice a
year. It seems the heads go bad even though we clean the drives more
than the recommended cycle.

The drives have met our needs, but do find that IEM replacement drives
don't always work the first time in.... We have 3 of the 8mm drives so we
are able to swap between machines in these situations. Unless you are
able to get same day support or don't need it, I recommend a "hot spare".

The HP3000 config guide (both May 1994 and November 1995) lists IEM
as the
supplier of 8mm tape drives for the HP3000. These are supported by IEM
not HP.
Is anyone using any of these drives and what luck have you had with
them? I'm trying to get one running on a 959 and not having much luck
with
the drive or IEM.

Thanks
