First the commentator said he thought it was one of the funniest one-line
postings he'd seen and then he went on the explain why it was funny (I guess
for the benefit of the Gen-X'ers who wouldn't know any better). Then he
commented on how rapidly the thread had traveled through the 'web
community'. He also mentioned that it seemed to proliferate through mostly
technical sites which was, ironically, where most of the complaining about
John Glenn's inclusion in the flight came from.
From this he concluded that, while 'tech people' complained about it, they
secretly approved of what he was doing and respected John Glenn for his
efforts.... hence the popularity of the thread.

That was about it.... keep in mind that at the time I was doing 65 mph in
rush hour traffic so he didn't exactly have 'my undivided attention' :-)
